Gibson Custom Shop SG Les Paul Standard Historic, Murphy Aged 2000.

General: Up for your consideration is a rare 2000 Gibson Historic SG Standard with faded Heritage Cherry finish and factory aged Nickel Hardware. In 2000 the Gibson custom Shop added the Historic Versions of the SG Les Paul Standard with a high level of historical accuracy to their Historic line. The particular SG/Les Paul was built in 2000 (with serial number 001022) is coded in Gibson Custom Shop terminology as SGSRAFCNML = SG Standard Reissue Aged (hardware) Faded Cherry Nitro (finish). This guitar is from the era when aging/relicing guru Tom Murphy, the Master Artisan and namesake of the Murphy Lab was full hands-on in the aging processes. Tom was central to the creation of the Gibson Custom Shop and personally developed the process of aging guitars. For over 25 years, he has been replicating the vibe and character of vintage instruments on the canvas of newly-created guitars. Some of the coolest features of this guitar are: the replica humbucking pickups have "PAF" stickers on the casings (some claim these guitars contain real circa 1950's PAFs but I do not believe this); the hardware is also given a historic treatment, the serial numbers are compressed into the headstock; and the Heritage Cherry Finish is "aged" (but not reliced) and the unaged finish can be seen in the body cavity and under the pickguard.

Condition: Fret wear is minimal if any. All electronics work perfectly. Pickups/electronics are included, as it currently has Seymour Duncan Antiquities installed. The finish shows signs of dents, chips, checking, hazing, and belt buckle rash. The Headstock does show minor scratching along its edge. There are no signs of wood fatigue or cracks on body, neck joint or headstock. The nickle hardware shows considerable factory aging: hazing/oxidation/tarnishing and rub marks appear on pickup covers, bridge, and tailpiece nickel parts (see pictures). Plays Great. Includes original hard shell case. Sorry no certificate of authenticity or case candy available.

Modifications: Upgraded bridge, pickups, with push/pull modification for pickup phase. The original "aged" pickups will be included in the sale.
